Conservatism Half Hour (in less time): Episode One – Science Policy

In which I hate on ABC’s Q&A episode with the panel of scientists and discuss science policy.  For the TL;DL crowd, the ten minute episode makes two points:

  1. Discussing research funding in terms of benefit to the economy is a dumb game to play.
  2. Without dissenting voices on the panel, the science policy discussion missed opportunities to air problems with the Australian Research Council funding model and to advance other models of funding research.
